It used to be called “cottage core,” but now the particular dress is a milkmaid dress. I personally think that it has to do with the focus of the dress on the breast area, but I digress. I did go looking for something that I felt would match my particular body type since the whole corset thing isn’t for me. I know some people can do the corset on a lightweight material, but my body shape leans more toward the apple shape with ample boobs, and corsets are not our friends if they don’t include a nice sturdy framework. Sorry.
We are having a nice snow day, so I decided to start pulling out fabric and searching for enough fabric (6 yds) to make a dress my size.
The dress pattern I’m using is the free one from Mood Fabrics. It is the Anthea Milkmaid Dress. This links directly to their blog with the description and directions, plus a video. You just have to plug in your name and email address to get access to the pattern. I’ve used several of their patterns in the past. It’s a great place to not only get patterns, but fabric and help as well.
