It’s all about getting healthy

When I sat down at the end of last year to create this year’s goals, I had to take into account my health. For the last 7 years, my health has been in a steady decline. Much of it started when my father passed away in 2016. The overall stress of grief affected my body in ways I didn’t expect. Although, I began to understand the result of it all when I began seeing a therapist for my depression. Much of my depression was also a result of stress. It’s …

Building some momentum in the new year

First thing to acknowledge is that when I looked at my list for this week, I felt overwhelmed. Me planning this out a week ago had high hopes and big dreams. The actual me crashed out. Despite all of that, I’m still planning to get things done this week. I have a list of new things being made plus new items for the Etsy shop. Not to mention videos I’ll be working on. I think that I should’ve started making the videos much sooner because I forgot about the amount …

Happy New Year

2026 is now here, and I hope that you are as excited about stepping into the new year as I am. So much has transpired this last year, and so many changes have happened. I went from having a studio, to now I’m working out of a corner of my son’s living room. I moved in with him so that I could sell my house and try to find a teaching job. So far, nothing has panned out, but because of this, I decided to expand my business as much …

Goals! Yeah, I got ’em

I sat down this past week with my brand new Happy Planner and made out my list of goals for 2026. I have a huge list of things that I want to do: a bucket list, if you will. I can’t cram all of that into a list of things for one year. Most of those things are incidentals and not necessarily things you plan to do. The things you can plan for are usually added to my yearly goals, or things that can be broken down into smaller things …

Finding my passion

Recently I had a conversation with a coworker about my sewing. I told her that I would sew us some shirts over the long weekend, and she replied, “Oh no! Don’t spend your rest time doing something for us! Enjoy your long weekend!” To her surprise, I said, “You don’t understand. Sewing is my therapy!” And it is, to some degree. Sewing is my happy place. I love to be able to let the sound of the machines just fade everything else into the background. It’s the one time that …

Why choose handmade clothing?

Handmade clothing at one time received a bad rep due to clothing looking like they had been made from drapes. However, these days, there are lots of good quality fabrics to choose from to make clothes and home decor look separate from one another. Custom handmade clothing that is made with quality in mind can last for many years. Care can be taken to insure that the hems and seams are sturdy and secure. While our garments are handmade, we take great pride in producing a well-made, quality garment for …

Starting Somewhere

Sometimes it feels like a dream. I’m in the starting blocks ready to begin the race. My mind is whirling with my strategy of how I’m going to make it to the finish line. Suddenly, I’m panicked because what if my strategy doesn’t work? What if someone else’s strategy is better than mine? I know that as I move forward, I have to start somewhere. There is a clear beginning for me. I lost so many of my previous websites, but I know that those things were just in the …

Health Updates (and why the changes)

Back in March, I had a breast cancer scare. I went through multiple testing and biopsies until at last, in June, I had surgery to remove the mass and be done with it for good. It’s gone, final biopsy, and I don’t have to fret about it anymore. After my surgery, I just could not get back to my old self. I had zero energy and was in a super depressed state. I stopped going into my sewing room. I stopped cleaning my house. I stopped doing everything. I just …
